The German edition advised “not to feel sorry” for Ukraine when joining the European Union

Pity for Ukraine because of current events should not be a determining factor in its admission to the European Union. This is written by the German edition Tagesspiegel.

The newspaper stressed that Albania, Serbia and North Macedonia applied for EU membership much earlier than Ukraine. They have long had the status of candidates for membership in the European Union. Therefore, letting Ukraine go ahead of these countries would be wrong.

Also, countries wishing to join the EU must independently change themselves, and not only the political structure, but also the systems of geopolitical landmarks and values.

The author of the article believes that candidates for the EU should compete with each other, who will move faster in reforms and become worthy of admission to the European community.
