Today, Monday, German Economy Minister Robert Habeck will start political talks in the UAE, where he will meet a number of ministers.
Talks are scheduled to revolve around expanding the partnership between the two countries in the field of green hydrogen produced on the basis of renewable energy sources without carbon emissions. This technology is expected to eliminate carbon emissions from industries such as steel and chemicals, and to replace fossil energy such as Russian gas in the long term. The UAE relies heavily on solar energy.
According to Habeck’s statements in Doha, Germany and Qatar agreed on Sunday on a long-term energy partnership. Qatar is one of the world’s largest exporters of liquefied natural gas. On the one hand, it concerns short-term supplies to Europe, as well as long-term supplies, which must then reach the planned LNG terminals in Germany. The German government seeks to reduce dependence on Russian gas in light of the Russian aggressive war in Ukraine.
