The German concern intends to send the first batch of ammunition for Gepard to Ukraine by July

The first batch of German-made ammunition for the Gepard self-propelled anti-aircraft gun will be sent to Ukraine by July, Armin Papperger, CEO of the German engineering concern Rheinmetall AG, expects. As transmits CNNhe also told reporters that 20 Marder armored vehicles would be ready to be shipped to Ukraine by the end of March.

According to Mr. Papperger, his company “has doubled its capacity and even tripled it in some sectors.” He noted that the concern is working “at full capacity”, but can increase it if there are contracts.

Germany delivered regarding 30 Gepard units to Ukraine. The problem with the supply of the Ukrainian armed forces with ammunition for ZSU was revealed when Berlin might not convince neutral Switzerland to transfer shells for these installations – they are produced in this country by a subsidiary of Rheinmetall. Chancellor Olaf Scholz might not convince Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lulu da Silva to send Ukraine the appropriate shells, which are available in sufficient quantities from the Brazilian army.
