“Unlock, demicardize, debureaucratize”. Gabriel Attal promised on Tuesday a reform of low wages for the middle classes in the name of work, and defended before deputies a “French agricultural exception” in the midst of farmers’ revolt.
Even before the Prime Minister spoke, the left-wing groups LFI, socialists, Greens and communists tabled a motion of censure, presented as a “motion of no confidence” against the Prime Minister whom they accuse of not seeking support. “vote of confidence”.
“Our agriculture is our strength, and our pride too. So I say it here solemnly: there must be a French agricultural exception,” declared Gabriel Attal in his general policy declaration, delivered at a time when tractors were blocking the roads around Paris, saying he was “lucid in the face of the pile-up Standards”.

Addressing the middle classes, he wanted to “de-microcardiate France” by reforming low wages from the next budget in the fall, and continue “to lower the burdens” on them.

Reduction of plastic pollution
Prime Minister Gabriel Attal announced on Tuesday his intention to launch a plan to reduce plastic pollution targeting the 50 sites that generate the most plastic packaging in France, in his general policy speech.
The government had already undertaken a similar approach in November 2022 for the 50 industrial sites that emit the most greenhouse gases as part of a decarbonization pact.
“I am proud that the 50 highest-emitting industrial sites, 50 sites which alone represent 10% of greenhouse gas emissions in France, have all committed to reducing their emissions by almost half by 2030” , welcomed the Prime Minister to the deputies.
“I am announcing to you that we will launch a similar initiative against plastic pollution, for the 50 sites which put the most plastic packaging on the market,” he added.
End of life assistance
The bill on active assistance in dying will be examined “before the summer”, Prime Minister Gabriel Attal declared on Tuesday, while promising to “considerably” strengthen palliative care units.
At the end of December, President Emmanuel Macron indicated that he would present the “contours of the text” on this active assistance in dying “in February” after the announcement “in January” of a ten-year strategic plan on palliative care, still not revealed to date.
“Before the summer, we will examine a bill on active assistance in dying,” underlined Gabriel Attal in his general policy declaration, without specifying whether the text would be presented beforehand as planned in February.
