Davina Geiss (18) learns from real professionals. The daughter of Robert (58) and Carmen (56) Geiss celebrated her 18th birthday in May 2021. When she came of age she was able to look forward to a new Audi RS Q3 with 450 hp. The gift even moved her to tears. But Carmen and Robert didn’t leave it at that. On top of that, she was given a voucher for driving safety training – with none other than former Formula 1 driver Ralf Schumacher (46) and his son David Schumacher (20).
In the latest episode of “The Geissens – A Terribly Glamorous Family” on Monday evening, the training was shown on RTL2. The Geissens have known Schumacher for a long time. The families met for the first time in 2004. «At that time I bought a property from Robert and Carmen. We then saw each other more often in Saint-Tropez, »says Ralf Schumacher, who drove for Williams during his Formula 1 career, among others, of the «Bild».
Robert Geiss is afraid for his car
The Geissens didn’t have to think long regarding who Davina should do her safety training with. “We have known Ralf for a long time and appreciate his driving skills. It goes without saying that we wouldn’t send our eldest daughter to anyone else for driving safety training,” says Carmen Geiss, explaining the decision.
One thing is clear to Robert: his daughter should learn from professionals. «Ralf and David know what they are talking regarding. With the training of the two, I’m sure that it will teach our daughter more safety in traffic,” he says. But the car is even more important to him, because he adds with a laugh: “I don’t want to have to order new rims for Davina’s car following three weeks…”
“She coped extremely well”
Davina Geiss completed the driving safety training course with Ralf and David Schumacher near the Dutch border. There she should learn to brake hard on a wet road and to control the car. At first she seems a bit scared. “You can’t imagine what a shock and nightmare it is when the whole car suddenly moves,” Davina said.
But then she manages the task well with DTM driver David as co-driver. Ralf Schumacher is satisfied: “She coped extremely well. Above all, she managed the vibrating plates, where the car suddenly swerved. » If Schumacher has his way, training should be mandatory. In Switzerland, the so-called 2-phase training, also known as the WAB course, is already mandatory. (bsn)
