Greece – and rightly so – in the coming days will rush to the churches, chapels and monasteries for the sake of Megalochari. And on the beaches, of course-of course. As well as in dozens of festivals all over the country. It is not yet time for the bees to come.
However, when they come, nothing will resemble the summer of Olympiad. Only the ashes of our self-destruction will accompany the gloomy autumn. Then when the first polls of the new season will come. Then when we will have entered a trajectory of acceleration of political and social developments.
The main “boxes” of the political puzzle with a short political horizon are facts: the International Exhibition of Thessaloniki, the consequences of the permanent hoarseness of Akrivia in the supermarkets and the pinched Energy, the national squeeze by Erdogan, the internal party processes in SYRIZA and PASOK , a little later the election of the new president and in the background the selection of the new President of the Hellenic Republic.
The complex scenario finds the ND in power with a “fragile” 28% of the European elections and with (apparent) cracks for the first time in the 5 years that it has ruled the country, internally. Kyriakos Mitsotakis has before him the most difficult equation of his political career. The fifth year of the country’s rule has always been the turning point of all his predecessors. Of Konstantinos Karamanlis, Andreas Papandreou, Kostas Simitis, Kostas Karamanlis, Antonis Samaras and Alexis Tsipras (we leave out Father Mitsotakis and George Papandreou, because they “fell” early). Nobody solved the equation. No one made it through the 5-year mark unscathed. All experienced the agony of political decay and decline. Will Kyriakos manage to exorcise the curse of the “fifth year”? Probably, the 28% disadvantage is equalized by the absence of an official opposition and a generally credible opposition. However, politics is not a “static” exercise and the prime minister no longer has political time as his ally, because he has many “jumps” to jump over in fields where the momentum of the first government is weakened and the (otherwise…) staff supremacy of.
Then there is the other: The “blank check” of the first four years has already been returned to the midiarchs. On the occasion of the recent fire that “sculpted” Athens, it was enough to see the news bulletins and you would understand… Many things would have been hastened if the opposition had stood on its feet.
