A former developer tells in an interview that the third part of Titanfall was already 10 months in development.

It has now been seven long years since Titanfall 2 was released. Many fans are still calling for a sequel to the mech shooter that brought a breath of fresh air to the genre with a strong story.

In an interview with the YouTube channel The Burnettwork tells former Respawn Entertainment developer Mohammad Alavi that Titanfall 3 was in the works. They worked on the title for a full ten months before the development was scrapped.

Alavi said on the podcast when asked regarding Titanfall 3: “Want to hear a crazy story? Titanfall 3… Titanfall 2 came out, did what it did and we were like, okay, we’re going to make Titanfall 3! And we worked on Titanfall 3 for… ten months, right? Seriously right? I mean we had new tech for it, we had several missions going, we had a first playable game that was just as good if not better than what we had before right? But I want to be clear: it was progressively better, it wasn’t revolutionary. And that’s the trick, isn’t it? And we felt pretty good, but didn’t feel the same way that we did with Titanfall 2, where we did something revolutionary, you know what I mean? And then the multiplayer team had a hell of a time improving multiplayer because a lot of people loved multiplayer.”

A fundamental decision was then made once morest the Titanfall 3 project as a team. As with the predecessor, the demand to create something new and exciting was simply too strong. The result, measured once morest this goal: Not enough for the team itself. So the team quit work and got busy with another (Star Wars) project.
