Samsung Electronics’ flagship (highest-end model) smartphone, the Galaxy S22 series, set a record high on the first day of pre-launch and succeeded in the early box office. In the previous eight days of pre-sale, the Galaxy S series reached the highest level ever.
Samsung Electronics announced on the 23rd that the opening performance of the Galaxy S22, which was launched for pre-orders on the 22nd, surpassed 300,000 units on the first day, setting a record for its company in Korea. The previous record was 270,000 units of the ‘Galaxy Z Fold 3’ and ‘Galaxy Z Flip 3’ released last year.
Among the three models, regular, plus, and ultra, the Galaxy S22 Ultra with built-in ‘S Pen’ accounted for 60% of the pre-orders and led the box office success. In particular, Samsung Electronics explained that the proportion of ultra model purchases among existing ‘Galaxy Note’ users was high.
The Galaxy S22 series pre-sale for 8 days from the 14th to the 21st of this month was regarding 1.2 million units, setting a record for the Galaxy S2 series. The previous record was 1004,000 units of the Galaxy S8. Considering that the pre-sale period was 11 days at the time, Samsung Electronics added that the sales performance this time was much better.
The pre-sales of the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Z Flip 3, which were popular last year, also greatly exceeded 920,000 units.
The Galaxy S22 series, which was unveiled through Unpacked on the 10th, is showing improved design and camera performance. The global release is on the 25th, and the Galaxy S22 regular model and Plus model will be released with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of internal memory, and the price is 999,900 won and 1199,000 won, respectively.
The Ultra model, which succeeded the Galaxy Note series, comes in two models with 12GB RAM and 256GB internal memory, and 12GB RAM and 512GB internal memory, and the price is 1452,000 won and 1551,000 won, respectively.
