The absence of international goalkeeper Mohammed Al Owais from Al Hilal Saudi Club training sparked controversy in the Saudi sports street, amid varying questions regarding his future with the team.
Al-Owais has a valid contract with Al-Hilal until June 2025, but he has not appeared as a regular starter since his arrival to the team in January 2022, as he was a backup for veteran Abdullah Al-Mayouf, before he became the second goalkeeper on the list of Portuguese coach Jorge Jesus, following Moroccan Yassine Bono joined.

During the past few days, there were reports that Al Owais requested to leave Al Hilal in the last summer transfer market, but he was unable to achieve this, due to the club management’s refusal to abandon him.
Other news added that Al-Owais missed Al-Hilal’s training due to his anger over not participating in the matches, but sports journalist Walid Al-Farraj confirmed that Al-Owais did not miss training because of his anger or sadness, but rather he was injured, and that he completed the rehabilitation period to return to group training.
Al Owais’s future with Al Hilal remains ambiguous, as the player is expected to hold a meeting with the club’s management during the coming period, to discuss his future with the team.
