Coming out of a pandemic marked by a frenzy of online purchases, the trend had already emerged and is being confirmed: watch outlets have not said their last word, quite the contrary. This observation was at the heart of the discussions which brought together experts from the luxury sector at the Forum of the Fondation de Haute Horlogerie which was held last week at the Maison de la Paix in Geneva.
The figures published a few weeks ago in the tenth edition of the study devoted to the Swiss watch industry produced by Deloitte supported the debates. More than one in two buyers (52%) prefer to purchase the watch of their dreams in store. This is certainly less than in 2022 – they were then 58% according to the British firm – but this preference for on-site purchases remains the rule and will not change soon.
