INDONESIA is believed to have a major influence on decision making and water management policies for the global interest. The 10th World Water Forum on 18-25 May 2024 in Bali will also be a momentum to ensure that the whole world moves together to maintain the sustainability of water resources for human life.

This was emphasized by the Deputy Chair of the Secretariat of the 10th World Water Forum National Committee and Expert Staff to the Minister of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) for Technology, Industry and the Environment, Endra S. Atmawidjaja, Wednesday (24/4/2024), in Jakarta . “Since the beginning, at various forums, Indonesia has consistently pushed for water issues to be discussed at the highest level. There must be strong encouragement from policy makers,” said Endra.

Indonesia has brought three special missions to be agreed upon at the meeting in Bali later. The three missions are the Center of Excellence on Water and Climate Resilience, mainstream integrated water management in small islands, and routine World Lake Days activities. “This is important to discuss because lakes are a source of raw materials, energy and even flood control,” he said.

The 10th World Water Forum has three main processes, namely political, regional and thematic processes. All three will involve various stakeholders, ranging from state leaders, ministers, regional leaders, academics, researchers, to the younger generation who will exchange ideas.

There are 230 thematic forum sessions, 55 side events, and 10 special sessions in this event. In addition, the Indonesian government also invited 44 heads of state, 4 heads of international institutions, and 198 ministers or ministerial level officials responsible for water resources issues.

The series of events will open with the Balinese Water Purification Ceremony, which is a typical Balinese traditional ritual with the concept of the Rahina Tumpek Uye activity and the Segara Kerthi Ceremony. Then on May 20 2024, it will continue with the Opening Ceremony and High-Level Meeting at BICC, Nusa Dua. After that there were interface meetings with those responsible for political, thematic and regional processes, as well as bilateral meetings with several heads of state.

Still on the same day, the opening of the Fair and Expo will be held at the Nusa Dua BNDCC Hall. The Fair and Expo locations will be spread across BNDCC, BICC and Kuta Beach. Political, thematic and regional process sessions will be held from 20 to 25 May 2024. Meanwhile, the High-Level Meeting and Ministerial Meeting will be held from 20 to 21 May 2024.

Next there is a Cultural Night (Farewell) agenda at Taman Bhagawan on May 24 2024. Guests can enjoy typical food, regional dances and Indonesian culture.

The closing of the event will take place on May 25 2024. After the series of World Water Forum activities are completed, participants will also be taken on a field trip to enjoy the beauty of Bali such as the Water Museum in Tabanan, Jatiluwih UNESCO World Heritage Site, Lake Batur Kintamani, and Ubud Cultural Village.
