Fauci confirmed, during statement To the White House, the future of dealing with the virus may require an annual vaccine to ensure the immunity of people from the strain circulating at that time, in the event that a radically different strain does not appear from the current ones.
And the US health authorities recently approved a bivalent vaccine against the “B4” and “B5” strains of Covid-19.
Fauci called on everyone to seek this stimulant dose to reduce the risk of infection in the fall and winter.
The White House coordinator for COVID-19 affairs, Ashish Jha, said the country is moving to a point where a single dose of the vaccine can provide the necessary immunity for the whole year, and protect vaccinators from contracting serious diseases.
Jha said that reaching this stage is an important step in the fight against the disease.
Jha pointed out that it may be advised to periodically vaccinate against Covid, at the same time as the annual influenza vaccination, noting that some groups, such as those with immune diseases, may need more doses.
Jha stressed that the current US administration in the White House will spare no effort to provide the necessary protection for those in need.
Meanwhile, Rochelle Wallinsky, director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, said the average seven-day hospitalizations were down about 4,500 per day, a drop of up to 14% from the previous week.
But Walinsky added that the seven-day average death rate was “still very high” at about 378 per day.
