With his post on social media, the Minister of Health, Adonis Georgiadis, published photos of the new state-of-the-art ward of the psychiatric clinic of the Constantinople Hospital – Agia Olga, which was handed over yesterday renovated to the patients a few months following the previous administration was crippled.
The deplorable conditions that prevailed in the rooms and interior spaces are a thing of the past and now both patients and employees are accommodated in clean spaces and modern facilities.
As the Minister of Health emphasizes in his post, “last October, the shameful images of the state of the Psychiatric Clinic at the General Hospital “Konstantopoulio-Agia Olga” in Nea Ionia became known in Panhellenium. The then Minister of Health Mr. Chrysochoidis requested the resignation of the administration and closed the clinic until it was renovated. At the beginning of January, assuming the leadership of the Ministry of Health, I decided to deal particularly with this Hospital. It is in a popular area and contributes substantially to the health services of all neighboring municipalities. I immediately appointed Mr. Christos Tsami as commander.
Mr. Tsamis was an experienced commander with whom I had worked in my previous term and I gave him the order to renovate the psychiatric clinic as a priority.
Yesterday, in just six months, the Psychiatric Clinic of the “Konstantopoulio-Agia Olga” General Hospital was handed over completely renovated for use by employees and patients.
I am proud, because this project was done in record time with the Hospital’s own resources and with minimal expenses, thanks to the essential help given to us by the Mayor of Nea Ionia, Mr. Manouris, whom I publicly thank.
In these few months of my new term we have added 34 doctors and nurses to the staff of this Hospital and we expect another 15 nurses this summer. We are pending to bring in pediatricians for the Obstetrics Clinic and then our Hospital will literally be new and better than ever.
Warm Congratulations to the Administration of the Hospital and to the Director of the Psychiatric Clinic Mr. Istikoglou who personally supervised all the renovation works.
The presence of the Peroti family at the opening was a great joy and honor for us. The Peroti family have been the big donors of this Hospital since the 1980s, when this Hospital was built with their own money. Such acts should be exemplary. Their constant presence beside us is a great help.
