The coronation of King Charles III will take place on Saturday 6 May at Westminster Abbey. Buckingham Palace wants to make this historic event a moment of celebration, according to Observer news.
The coronation ceremony will take place on May 6 and will be conducted by the Archbishop of Canterbury. The event will start at lunchtime. Charles and Camila will walk from Westminster Abbey to Buckingham Palace, the route being called ‘The King’s Procession’.
The ceremony will start at 11am local time and last just over an hour, compared to the three hours of Queen Elizabeth II’s event. Charles will be seated inside Westminster Abbey on the throne and holding the sceptre.
During the ceremony, Charles will be anointed with the oil of Jerusalem, then blessed and consecrated by the Archbishop before placing the Crown of St Edward on his head.
Camila will be crowned with Queen Mary’s Crown.
Britons will be invited to swear an oath of loyalty to the monarch during the coronation.
Prince Philip will be honored during the service.
At 2 pm the “Coronation Procession” begins.
At 2pm local time, following the ceremony, Charles and Camila will leave Westminster Abbey back to Buckingham Palace on the route called the ‘Coronation Procession’.
On Sunday there will be a luncheon in honor of the King’s coronation, and in the evening there will be a concert at Windsor Castle, where many international personalities will be present.
Monday will see The Big Help Out, which encourages people to support their local community and volunteer.
