The free word – land of complainers and know-it-alls

If you look at the media, you quickly come to the conclusion that very many of our fellow citizens are actually not happy with anything. The same applies to journalists, opposition politicians, so-called economic experts, know-it-alls on the environment, climate issues, and much more. Everyone criticizes the government in question, with the magic phrase that we can do it better than you anyway. The pandemic may not have solved some problems properly, but billions of euros in financial aid have been paid out. Opposition politicians who only criticize but do nothing themselves have the standard phrase “7 lost years, endless debts, etc.” But they still find election sweeteners like a 30-hour week, higher pay, free meals for schoolchildren. The former Neos leader Strolz is determined to become a minister because he thinks there is no one better than him. Perhaps we should remember that for the most part we are better off than many other countries in the world. This year everyone wants everything, and immediately. My generation used to save and then buy the most important things for daily life. In the 1980s, loans cost around 10% interest. Today, people complain when they get 5% interest. Company profits below 10% are nothing, and the word “satisfaction” no longer applies.
