The head of the “Free Patriots” Party, MP Camille Chamoun, denied information regarding his distinction and his violation of the “Strong Republic” bloc’s decision regarding voting for the opposition candidate Jihad Azour, commenting on the person who broadcasts this news by saying: “What is your credibility?” He said, “I voted for Azour, we wrote the names together in the bloc clearly, and each of us saw what the other wrote, and therefore it is forbidden to make mistakes.”

He added, “I have no objection to any decisions within the bloc. I expressed reservations when Jihad Azour was proposed like any other person, given that I did not know him or his presidential programme. One by one, knowing that Azour contacted me personally and clarified some of the questions I asked.

Shimon assured An-Nahar that there are no disagreements with the “Strong Republic” bloc, and if they are found, they are resolved within the bloc, and I declare them, and there is no problem with anyone. He stressed that he is staying in the bloc and there is nothing that calls for leaving it.

And regarding what he is preparing for following June 14, Chamoun said: “Despite what resulted from yesterday’s session, the final result was that we left without the ability to elect a president, and this is evidence of the need to start a serious dialogue regarding the future of this country and within what formula we want to live. We are basically With the implementation of the constitution and expanded decentralization, especially since the central state has proven its complete inability to solve problems, let us build the country on constitutional foundations and balanced foundations for all regions and components.”
