The Foundations in 48 HEI schools [πίνακες] 2024-07-23 21:47:02

Candidates’ performance was not as expected, resulting in a decline that had already been estimated since last June due to the increased level of difficulty of the subjects in subjects such as Mathematics, History, Physics, not to be so universal.

Law and polytechnic schools look set to decline this year, with the leading polytechnics losing even more than 470 points, while the drop in law schools is expected to be more moderate.

Medicine, where the Athens school “broke the barrier” of 19,000 points last year, looks set to soar further this year, as candidates performed impressively despite the increased level of difficulty.

In the Schools of Economics, the estimates refer to small fluctuations that in no way change the course of last year’s bases.

Konstantinos Papagiannoulis, studies and career advisor of PIXIDAedu, carried out the drafting of the study on the course of this year’s bases after the Panhellenic with an algorithm created with the help of Artificial Intelligence. Estimates are only for faculties and departments that are selected from a scientific field and do not have a specific course, as this way the accuracy of the estimate is achieved.

“E.T.” presents base estimates from 40 schools, as well as eight military schools by discipline.

1st FIELD

Panhellenic 2024: Fall in Law and Psychology

“We notice that in the Panhellenic exams the lower performance in History (an average of 1.1 points out of 20) and the imperceptibly lower performance in Ancient and Latin affected this year’s Panhellenic mainly the sections that move in the range of 15,000 points and above. Thus, a relatively mild drop in bases is estimated in these segments by 40 to 200 points”, notes Mr. Papagiannoulis. Estimates show that Athens Law may fall to 18,080 points, with a marginal drop of 45 points, which, however, due to the explosive demand it has, is important for those who claim it. A greater drop is expected in Thessaloniki Prefecture with 110 points, while Komotini Prefecture is expected to drop to 16,780.

A drop of up to 170 points is also expected in the popular schools of Psychology, with the decrease being slightly smaller in the central Institutions and increased in the regional Institutions.

There is a change of scenery in the course of the bases in the schools that moved below 15,000 points last year. Candidates’ performance narrowed down the honorees, increasing the number of achievers to close to 15, while also increasing competition. This practically means that low and medium schools are likely to see a small increase of up to 100 points.

2nd FIELD

Fundamentals: Heavy losses at Polytechnics

The Physics course was “fatal” for the candidates’ performance in the Panhellenic exams. “We notice that the lower performance in Physics (on average 1.5 points out of 20) as well as the lower performance in Mathematics (on average 0.7 points out of 20) had a downward effect especially on the sections with a higher coefficient in these two subjects “, notes Mr. Papagiannoulis.

With the trend in the field being mostly downward, there are variations as subject weightings affect each section separately. However, the popular polytechnic departments will suffer heavy losses in points from 290 to 470, losing a point of the increase they had last year, thanks to the good performance of the candidates.

The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (NTUA) is expected to drop to 18,350 points, while the Mechanical Engineering (NTUA) will marginally stand above 18,000 points. All other polytechnic departments will move below 18,000 points. Conversely, the situation will be similar in the sections below 15,000 points, where the increase is expected to reach even 220 points.

3rd FIELD

Bases: Up to 220 points in Medicine

The big surprise of the year is the Medical Schools, all flirting with 18,400 points and above, with the one in Athens estimated to reach 19,110 points.

With few exceptions linked to demand from candidates, the 3rd science field is the only one estimated to register a universal (almost) increase from 10 to as much as 220 points. “The upward trend manifests itself with up to 230 points in high-grade sections to just 10 points in sections with points tending to 10,000. We notice that in this year’s Panhellenic exams the lowest performance in Physics (on average 1.3 points out of 20) was fully compensated by the highest performance in Biology (on average 1.1 points out of 20) and more than the highest performance in Chemistry (on average 1.5 points out of 20), notes Mr. Papagiannoulis.

The last (in order of entry basis) Medicine is estimated to reach 18,430 points, while equally popular schools such as Veterinary Medicine, Pharmacy and Dentistry are expected to shoot up their bases by even 230 points.

Smaller increases of 40 to 70 points are expected in the departments with paramedical professions, whose bases are between 11,000 and 15,000 points.

4th FIELD

Bases: Increases to low levels

With IT departments being considered precarious for assessments, as entry is made from two science fields (2nd and 4th), economics departments are expected to have minor fluctuations that do not affect last year’s performance. “We notice that in this year’s Panhellenic exams the lowest performance in Mathematics (on average 0.4 points out of 20), as well as the lowest performance in Informatics (also on average 0.4 points out of 20) was fully compensated by the highest performance in economy (average 0.7 points out of 20). The result is approximately the same picture of expected bases apart from minimal exceptions”, says Mr. Papagiannoulis.

Fluctuations are expected to range from 100 to 180 points, with the highest-ranking departments, such as in Administrative Science and Technology in Athens, where the base is expected to jump to 18,510 points.

It is noted that the scientific field in question, although it traditionally records the lowest performance of candidates, in recent years has recorded increased competition, as the number of candidates is constantly increasing.

Bases: HIGH THE MILITARY SCHOOLS

The trends of assessments in the scientific fields are followed by the Military Schools. For those entering from a scientific field, it is estimated that the Military Schools in the 3rd scientific field will increase by even 230 points, with Medicine (SASS) likely to reach 18,170. The highest ranking school is estimated to be the School of Psychology (SSAS) with 18,830 points, despite the slight decrease expected this year.
