The lawyer and former PASOK MP Phoivos I. Ioannidis died shortly before the Resurrection, at the age of 88. His funeral will take place in his hometown of Sitia, as he had chosen.

Phoivos Ioannidis was born in Sitia in 1936. He is the son of lawyer Yiannis Ioannidis, a leader of the resistance in Eastern Crete during the Occupation, who was killed by the Germans in May 1944, and Aristeas Perakis. He studied at the Law School of the University of Athens. As a student he was active in trade unions in the Cretan Students Association.
