It is a judicial version of the “watered sprinkler” currently experienced by Roger M., the former director of the Verviers prison. The 71-year-old man, now retired, has just been imprisoned in Hasselt prison as part of a major investigation into drug trafficking.
Thus, according to our colleagues from Niewsblad, earlier this week, a plantation of just under a thousand cannabis plants was discovered in Aywaille, at the home of Roger M. and his wife. A search was indeed carried out there as part of an investigation into large-scale cannabis trafficking. This research began following the dismantling of a cannabis plantation in Dilsen-Stokkem. Since then, the police have left the scene under surveillance to identify people who show up. This is how the investigation led to at least two addresses in Wallonia.
One of these was the house of Roger M.. After the search and discovery of the plantation, Roger M. was immediately handcuffed and brought before the Limburg investigating judge, who decided to place him under arrest warrant, as did his wife.
The Limburg public prosecutor’s office has confirmed that several arrests have taken place this week. Five people have been placed under arrest warrant.
This is not the first time that the Aqualian septuagenarian has drawn the attention of the police. Thus, in 2013, a judicial investigation had been opened once morest him because he had been accused of having used materials and services from the prison of Verviers to manufacture horse box doors and pasture barriers for his own home. .
Roger M. was director of Verviers prison for many years. The man retired in 2014 following a career of more than forty years at the Ministry of Justice. He has been in the cell since this week.
