The “Foreign Ministry” condemns the storming of Al-Aqsa by an Israeli minister and calls on the Security Council to assume its responsibilities

The Lebanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates condemns the Israeli Minister of Internal Security, on Tuesday morning, January 3, 2023, storming Al-Aqsa Mosque, accompanied by the Israeli occupation forces.
The Ministry believes that this serious violation of the sanctity of the Al-Aqsa Mosque and the entire Temple Mount by a minister in the new Israeli government indicates the direction of the extremist policies that the Israeli government has begun to practice towards the Palestinian people and their rights and sanctities. These policies are also evident in the repeated attacks on Palestinians, the storming of camps and homes, and the destruction of property, especially by changing the features and reality of the city of Jerusalem.
The ministry also considers these practices a clear declaration by the Netanyahu government of its aggressive policy and practical rejection of peace efforts aimed at reaching a two-state solution. The Ministry also calls on the UN Security Council to assume its responsibilities, do what is necessary to curb the dangerous deterioration, deter the Israeli government and oblige it to respect the relevant resolutions of international legitimacy.
