the foldable smartphone will change format, these shells confirm it

Samsung is preparing to unveil its new high-end foldable smartphone this summer, the Galaxy Z Fold 4. Before its launch, we know that this new generation might solve one of the biggest problems of its predecessor.

As revealed in previous leaks, the new Galaxy Z Fold 4 will change format to adopt a slightly more compact design. This should make the smartphone more convenient to use.

The Galaxy Z Fold 3 is the most popular foldable smartphone on the market, but it suffers from a major defect that its new competitors such as the Oppo Find N or the Huawei Mate Xs 2 have managed to correct: its format. Indeed, when folded, the Galaxy Z Fold 3 offers a very high screen, but also very narrow. This external screen is therefore quite difficult to use, especially when you have to type something on the virtual keyboard.

To solve this problem, one would think that it is then enough to unfold the smartphone and use the internal screen, but using the keyboard on such a large screen is also complicated. The next generation might well solve this problem, since it will adopt a lower format, and a little wider.

On Twitter, leaker Ice Universe shared the first image of a Galaxy Z Fold 4 case, and compared it with a case from the previous generation. As we can see, the screen of the Galaxy Z Fold 4 is less high, but above all wider. Therefore, the external display should finally be more convenient to use.

According to information from OnLeaks, the smartphone will measure 155 x 130 x 7.1 mm, where its big brother measured 158.2 x 128.1 x 6.4 mm. In other words, the few millimeters lost in length will be found on the width of the phone.

In addition to using a new format, we know that the Galaxy Z Fold 4 will also improve the crease in the middle of the screen, but this would probably still be visible. We also know that the foldable smartphone will be more powerful than the Galaxy S22 released earlier this yearthanks in particular to a new Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chip from Qualcomm.
