The flu affects Belgium late: is the vaccine still effective?

Although we cannot yet speak of an epidemic, the number of flu cases is continuously increasing in Belgium. Usually, the flu virus begins to flare up between January and February before gradually slowing down in mid-March. But this year, it has only been gaining momentum since mid-March.

People vaccinated once morest the flu generally received their injection in October or November, as recommended by the medical profession. But with the virus spreading later this year, are they still protected?

“The vaccines are still effective in March but certainly a little less, especially in the most fragile people. The vaccine is more effective during the first 4 and 5 months, ”explained Yves Van Laethem at the microphone of RTL-TVI.
