The flop of the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus would push Apple to revise its strategy for the iPhone 15

Last year, Apple implemented a new strategy for the iPhone. On one side there is the iPhone 14 and the iPhone 14 Plus, and on the other the iPhone 14 Pro and the iPhone 14 Pro Max. The differences between these two ranges are substantial, so much so that customers would have shunned the first two models.

The iPhone 14s share the same brand and their screens are the same size (6.1 and 6.7 inches) as the Pro, but in reality they are very different smartphones. The Pro and Pro Max models integrate the top of Apple technology, with a Dynamic Island, a 48 megapixel camera, an “always on” screen, an A16 chip… Opposite, the iPhone 14 and 14 Plus are satisfied with the chip A15 from 2021 and the usual notch, without much change on the camera side.

Very expensive iPhone 14 and 14 Plus

Customers wouldn’t have been mistaken: numerous sources in the industry have confirmed the lack of appeal of the “mainstream” models. The iPhone 14 Plus in particular would have greatly disappointed in terms of sales. It certainly has a large 6.7-inch screen, but its high price (from €1,169) puts it in a bad position compared to the first Pro, from €1,329. In view of the marked differences between the two ranges, interested consumers preferred to pay a little more…

This is why Apple might change its strategy this year with the iPhone 15. At least that’s what the leaker indicates. yeux1122 (he hasn’t always been right in the past). The manufacturer would thus have two possibilities: either to reinforce the differences between the iPhone Pro and non-Pro, or to lower the prices of future “entry-level” models.

The price is surely the most handicapping factor for non-Pro iPhones that exceed the 1,000 euro threshold. For many customers, it’s very expensive to pay for smartphones that don’t have all the latest features.
