He Central Bank of the Argentine Republic (BCRA) implemented a new increase in interest rates. The Nominal Annual Rate (TNA) has been adjusted to 97%, while the Effective Annual Rate (TEA) has increased to 154%.

This measure, similar to that adopted in April, aims to attract investors and allow them to benefit from the new fixed-term rates. At the same time, seeks to alleviate the demand for dollars and absorb liquidity that puts pressure on inflation.

In the period from April 20 to the present date, the annual rates have undergone three increases consecutive: first from 77% to 81%, then from 81% to 91% at the end of April, and now in May from 91% to 97%.

From the new interest rate, if a fixed term of $100,000 for 30 daysat the end of the period they will receive the interest generated by 30 days that will be $7,972.60.

How to perform the calculation?

To calculate the monthly rate for a fixed termwhich represents the return over a period of 30 daysthe following calculation must be carried out: divide the Nominal Annual Rate (97%) by 12 months.

The result will be 8.08%. According to the current provision of the BCRA, this is the monthly rate obtained through this investment method.
