The five asteroids that passed and will pass “grazing” the Earth this week

This September 5 saw a great activity in the space surrounding the Earth, only in the early hours of this day three asteroids crossed near the Earth. During the following two days, on September 6 and 7, there will also be asteroid approaches that complete the five approaches contemplated by NASA.

In addition to reporting on the approaches, the United States aerospace agency also shared a series of data on the objects to give more idea of ​​what each one of them looks like. The first asteroid is called 2022 RW and is the largest in the entire list. It is the size of an average building, reaching 76 meters in length. The large object approached a distance of approximately one million 120 thousand kilometers, which may seem very far away, however, it is a sufficient distance for NASA to classify it as a Near Earth Object (NEO), a category of asteroids that must be constantly watched because they can pose a threat to Earth, in case there is a change in their trajectory at the last minute.

Two other asteroids approached the same September 5 the 2022 QJ7 is the size of an airplane 25 meters long and crossed a little more than 5 million kilometers from Earth. For its part, 2022 QU5 30 meters longit will pass a little more distant at regarding 7 million 350 thousand kilometers from us.

Approaches of September 6 and 7
The activity of surrounding objects will not culminate there, since according to NASA, this September 6 there will also be an important approach. Asteroid 2022 QC7, 21 meters in size, will cross a distance of 4 million 660 thousand kilometers from our planet.

Lastly, the smallest of all the monitored objects is the so-called 2022RR1 with just 15 meters in size. However, it is the closest it will cross the planet, approaching only 732 thousand kilometers. To put it in context, the Moon is at a distance of 384 thousand 400 kilometers, so 2022RR1 will be positioned two moons awaya measure of care for NASA.
