The fishing boat broke down and was being pulled ashore by another ship when the water flooded and sank, and 11 crew members were rescued.

According to the report of the Border Guard Command of Binh Thuan province, at 2:30 p.m. on February 2, the fishing boat BTh 98064 TS, 20.5m long, 350CV, engaged in trawling with 11 workers. Le Hoang Nguyen (46 years old, living in Binh Tan ward, La Gi town) is the owner and captain, catching seafood at coordinates 09°17’00”N – 108°11’00”E in the region. Ba Ria – Vung Tau sea, the engine broke down and stopped working.
Then the fishing boat BTh 98296 TS, led by Mr. Le Hoang Tung as a fishing captain nearby, approached and proceeded to tow the damaged fishing vessel BTh 98064 TS to La Gi port, Binh Thuan for repair.
After towing for nearly 3 days, it was safe, but at 8 o’clock on February 5, when it reached the coordinates 10°24’00”N – 107°52’00”E, it was southwest of Ke Ga cape (Tan Thanh commune, Ham Thuan Nam district) regarding 20 nautical miles, the fishing boat BTh 98064 TS was flooded, sinking the ship.
The 11 crew members on the ship had to jump into the sea and were rescued safely by the fishing boat BTh 98296 TS and brought to La Gi fishing port at 5 o’clock on February 6.
Currently, the health and spirit of the crew members are stable and the ship owner’s family is contacting the means to salvage the fishing vessel BTh 98064 TS to continue towing it to La Gi fishing port for repair.
