In addition, a church source confirmed the authenticity of the video, adding in statements to the Egyptian newspaper “Al-Shorouk” that the fire was during prayer and the priest had to stop it.
The Egyptian Ministry of Health had announced the death of 41 citizens in the Abu Sefein Church fire in Imbaba, and 14 others were injured.

Dr. Hossam Abdel Ghaffar, the official spokesman for the Ministry of Health, confirmed that 55 cases were transferred to Imbaba General Hospital and Agouza, noting that 4 of the injured are in unstable condition.
Status of churches
For her part, Minister of Solidarity, Nevin Al-Kabbaj, announced that the Egyptian state is in the process of fully reviewing the status of churches, especially the old ones, to prevent and avoid any new disasters.
The minister said that local administrations, along with church organization departments, are currently reviewing the status of existing churches, legalizing them, closing the old ones and replacing them with new ones, noting that it is not possible to legalize some churches that are located in inappropriate places, which is what the state is currently doing.
