The first injections of monkeypox vaccine will be made this Tuesday morning in Drôme-Ardèche. It’s the CEGIDDthe Free Information Center for Screening and Diagnosis of Sexually Transmitted Infections, which is in charge of this vaccination at its premises in the Valencia Hospital for both departments.
This vaccination is currently reserved for people at risk, says Marie-Anne Arthus, Cegid doctor: “homosexual men with multiple partners and sex workers. People we know and who know us because we are already taking it as part of PrEP, this treatment which can prevent HIV contamination”
For this first week forty doses are available but the ARS will deliver new vaccines every week to the CeGIDD according to needs. “There is no lack of vaccines, it is an old known vaccine, that of human smallpox which also works on monkeypox according to a study” reminds the doctor, but the central pharmacy of the hospital cannot stock much.
Vaccination is only done by appointment, on Tuesday morning and Friday followingnoon. You must contact the CeGIDD on 06 37 11 71 90. The slots for this first week are all full.
