This Thursday, June 15, the first trial against one of the members of Generación Zoe will take place, and its end is set: the lawyer Gustavo Saavedra will receive a four-year prison sentence, after pleading guilty in the framework of the investigation that The prosecutor is the second shift of Villa María, Juliana Companys.
This will be so because an agreement was reached between the prosecution and Saavedra’s defense, represented by the lawyer Diego Julián, so that the defendant assumes his guilt and responsibility within the Zoe network, an organization investigated for fraud and illicit association since the end of 2021.
The holding of this first trial had been scheduled for Monday the 12th, but shortly after the hearing began, Judge María Soledad Dottori’s decision to suspend it was known.
The reason: the entry of new complaints for scams filed on Friday by more people who consider themselves victims of the organization led by Leonardo Cositorto, who is still imprisoned in the Bouwer prison.
The judge’s criteria was that, when entering new complaints, the defendant’s defense had the right to know their existence and content, for which reason she opened a time bar for them to be made aware of them.
Once through this step, a new hearing date was set, so the trial will be this Thursday the 15th, unless something else happens.
This process to which Saavedra is submitted is an abbreviated initial trial, agreed between the parties, and with the accused fully accepting the terms of the accusation and sentence.
The lawyer has been detained for a year and two months, after he was arrested in April 2022 in Ituzaingó, Buenos Aires province, and this path could lead him sooner towards the recovery of freedom.
