Books – Mustafa Eid:
A source at the Egyptian Tax Authority told Masrawy that there are no exceptions for any taxpayer who is obliged to join the electronic bill system, whether for companies or free professions such as lawyers or others.
The source added that the rest of the financiers from companies and liberal professions, such as doctors, engineers, lawyers and others, are obliged to join the electronic bill system no later than mid-December.
This comes following a number of lawyers objected to obliging them to join the electronic bill system, in light of the approaching date of the obligation to join it.
The source of the authority stated that in the event that none of those obligated to join the electronic bill, the penalties stipulated in the law will be applied, and those who are not obligated will not be able to deal with government agencies without joining the system, starting next April.
He stated that financiers whose dealings are limited to the final consumer, including lawyers, are obligated to register in the electronic billing system, but they are not obligated to issue electronic invoices until the electronic receipt is applied to them.
He explained that in this case, the financiers submit a request to postpone the issuance of invoices on the electronic invoice system to their tax offices until decisions are issued obligating them to the electronic receipt system.
The source confirmed that the authority signed a cooperation protocol with the Bar Association regarding joining the electronic system, and that there is a permanent committee from the authority in the syndicate to solve any problems facing lawyers in registration.
