Al-Marsad Newspaper: A technical team of geological engineers and specialists from the Geohazards Center of the Saudi Geological Survey began their work in the Fifa Mountains in the Jazan region in (Al-Shakhos), specifically in the sites of rockslides caused by the rain that fell on Thursday evening, in coordination with the concerned authorities in the region
Field geological and geo-engineering data and information were recorded, observations and rain damage were recorded in the affected area
Work is underway to submit the technical report to the relevant authorities following reviewing the reasons and developing solutions and technical recommendations to ward off the dangers of mountain avalanches.
Some of the initial engineering solutions that are carried out by specialists, such as removing suspended rock blocks or strengthening with anchor bolts, concrete spraying and retaining walls, are considered to reduce these risks and protect sites from continuous mountain avalanches.
This work comes from the perspective of the role of the Geological Survey Authority in warding off geological hazards and developing appropriate recommendations to reduce and reduce the risks of rockslides that abound in the southern region, especially in obstacles where rainfall contributes to an increase in landslides, road closures, and damage to infrastructure and property.
