A member of Twitter announced that Chinese manufacturers are preparing the next generation of smartphones: rollable screen devices. According to him, they will land no later than 2024.
Foldable smartphones are starting to be adopted by the general public. That said, the innovation train will not stop at this form factor. While Oppo presented a rollable screen smartphone in 2020, the Oppo X2021, LG and Motorola followed suit with the Chinese manufacturer the following year with the LG Rollable and Project Felix. So many products which did not arrive on our shelves, but which demonstrated that the manufacturers are already preparing the sequel.

Revegnus posted a tweet in which he proclaimed that “Chinese OEMs are trying to introduce new form factors quickly.” According to him, they have lost hope of taking first place in the race for foldable phones, in favor of Samsung, the undisputed world leader in sales. It is therefore very likely that the companies of the Middle Kingdom will release foldable phones during the second half of 2024. Although the leaker does not name any names, we suspect that Oppo has not given up on the idea of presenting its vision of the rollable screen smartphone.
Chinese manufacturers will release rollable screen smartphones in 2024
The creation of a smartphone equipped witha roll-up screen poses several problems. On the one hand, such a device is, by its nature, fragile: the screen must be able to Roll and unroll thousands of times without damaging or cracking.
