The first session of the LXII Extraordinary Meeting of the Common Market Group took place this Friday

Asuncion, IP Agency.- The first session of the 62nd Extraordinary Meeting of the Common Market Group (GMC) began this Friday in the Historic Building of the Port of Asunción, chaired by the Paraguayan ambassador Patricia Frutos, National Coordinator of the GMC, with the participation of the National Coordinators of the Common Market Group and technical delegations.

The economic and trade agenda includes the treatment of regulatory issues, trade and sustainable development, intellectual property, women and trade, and MSMEs.

There was also discussion on external relations (regional and extra-regional agenda), institutional agenda, Fund for Structural Convergence of Mercosur (FOCEM), among others.

During the session, they highlighted the presence of the members of the Commission of Permanent Representatives of Mercosur (CRPM), while acknowledging the work of this body, among which they mentioned the implementation of agreements for financial and technical complementation between Mercosur and Fonplata.

The meeting was also attended by the director of the Mercosur Secretariat, Hugo Saguier Caballero, and coordinators of the department. The GMC is the second decision-making body of Mercosur, whose function is to oversee the daily functioning of the bloc.

Meetings will continue tomorrow with representatives of the bloc who will participate in the LXII Extraordinary Meeting of the Common Market Group. The closing activities of the Pro Tempore Presidency of Paraguay (PPTP) will end on July 8, with the Summit of Heads of State of Mercosur and Associated States.

The Plenary Session of Heads of State of the regional bloc, Bolivia and Associated States, will be chaired by the President of the Republic, Santiago Peña, who will be accompanied by the head of the Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF) and other ministers of the Executive Branch.
