Al-Marsad newspaper: Dr. Hoda Al-Firdaws, the first Saudi woman specialized in the field of genomic medicine, explained the story of her doctorate in two different specialties.
She said during an interview with “SBC Studio” broadcast on “SBC” channel, “I got my doctorate at the age of 25”, pointing out that she worked in 9 international laboratories, and her doctoral thesis that she prepared combines two specializations, one scientific and the other medical.
And she continued: “Genomic medicine is one field, but it is divided into several specialties. Pointing out that she is one of the first in the world to work in the field of genomic medicine, and she is the first Saudi woman to specialize in this field.”
She added: Genomic medicine is important for all people because the human body is made up of cells. Pointing out that this type of medicine helps in diagnosis, prevention and treatment. And it needs an understanding in the field of computers, programming and scientific laboratories.
