Jeddah: The first Saudi Games will begin on October 27 in Riyadh. More than 6,000 athletes will compete in the first Games in Saudi history. The opening ceremony will be held at the King Fahad International Stadium. The prize money for the winners is 20 crore riyals. The Games will last for 10 days. The Saudi Games were announced two years ago. The Games were later postponed due to Covid. Sports Minister Amir Abdulaziz bin Turki said the Saudi Games are a reflection of the government’s great interest in sports and athletics.
I would like to take this opportunity to express my sincere gratitude to King Salman for his support for the Games. The Sports Minister also said that the Crown Prince is very interested in supporting and empowering various sports fields. More than 20,000 male and female athletes were given opportunities in the qualification rounds and performance trials ahead of the Saudi Games.
The Saudi Games will witness the participation of over 6,000 athletes and 2,000 technical and administrative supervisors. They represent over 200 clubs across the country. In addition, there will be categories participating under the flag of the Olympic and Paralympic Committee. The highest prize is prepared for the winners of the competition. The prize money will exceed 20 crore Riyals. The minister said that the gold medal winner in any game will get 10 lakh riyals, 3 lakh riyals for silver and 1 lakh riyals for bronze.
