Kyiv – (dpa):
Ukraine has rejected new Russian allegations that President Volodymyr Zelensky has fled the country.
“This is false. The president is in Kyiv. He is with his people,” the Kiev State Information Security Authority said on Friday, accusing Moscow of waging an information war and spreading false news on the Ukrainian lands that it has seized so far.
The statement comes in response to a confirmation from the Speaker of the Russian lower house of parliament, the State Duma, Vyacheslav Volodin, who said that Zelensky had left the country, citing Ukrainian lawmakers on the social networking program Telegram. “He is now residing in Poland,” Volodin said.
This comes a day following Ukraine’s intelligence services warned that Russia may publish false reports alleging Zelensky has fled the country.
