The first Quebec Country Festival canceled

A few days following the success of Luke Combs on the Plains of Abraham, the organizers of the new Quebec Country Festival, which was to be held at the end of July, announce that the event will ultimately not take place.

The cancellation was announced on the event’s website.

“It is with great sadness and deep regret that we announce today the cancellation of the 2022 edition of the Festival Country de Québec”, is it written.

Inflation and the pandemic are particularly singled out by the organizers.

“We did everything we might to avoid cancellation in the last few weeks. We went knocking on doors for extra money. We relied heavily on subsidies. […] Unfortunately, we had a lack of support on that side,” explains the president of the event, Patrick Guay.

Organizers admit they may have been a little too optimistic.

“Even if the response from the public was still favorable on the ticketing side, we were a little below our objective, it was not enough to make up for the shortfall,” said Mr. Guay.

The organizers assure that all people who have purchased tickets for the event will be contacted.

Patrick Norman and Léa Jarry were among the headliners of the festival, which was to be held at Stade Canac on July 30 and 31.
