Primark’s new store in Budapest will open its doors to customers on Tuesday, May 28, at 10 a.m. According to the company, the new store covers an area of more than 3,100 square meters.

The opening will create around 180 jobs in Hungary.

In the region, the chain had no stores almost only in Hungary. This year marks five years since Primark entered the CEE region, opening its first store in Ljubljana, Slovenia, in June 2019. The fashion chain currently operates 12 stores in five markets: Slovenia, Poland, the Czech Republic, Romania and Slovakia. In addition to the opening in Budapest, Primark is continuing its expansion plans in the Central and Eastern European region: in the next year, it will open stores in Timisoara in Romania, Prague in the Czech Republic and Bydgoszcz in Poland.

Maciej Podwojski, head of Primark’s Central and Eastern Europe, said: “We are very pleased to be able to bring Primark’s famous and affordable fashion to Hungarian customers for the first time in May. We announced our intention to enter the market in January 2023, and we can’t wait to open our doors soon.”

We also reported that the new workforce for the Budapest store had been being recruited for some time, that knowledge of the English language was essential to fill the previously advertised positions, and we also wrote that they are still looking for employees.

Long before the announcement of the opening of the fashion chain’s store in Hungary, various fraudulent websites appeared in the name of Primark,

where the company’s products were advertised. In response to our article, Primark said: “We are concerned by reports of fake websites and advise customers not to share their personal information with unknown third parties online. We currently do not have a website in Hungary, and we do not offer Primark products for online sale through third parties.”

The fast fashion company also announced that Primark products will only be available for purchase in the Budapest store opening in the coming months.
