Bayern Munich’s French winger Kingsley Coman will miss his team’s match once morest Stuttgart in the sixth phase of the Bundesliga on Saturday, following suffering a muscle injury during training, Bavarian club coach Julian Nagelsmann announced on Friday.
Koeman is also likely to miss the France squad for the upcoming international window, which coach Didier Deschamps is scheduled to announce on September 15.
“My hope is that it’s just a single muscle fiber tear and not a bundle of fibers,” Nagelsmann said.
Koeman is scheduled to undergo a more thorough examination later Friday, which provides a clearer picture of the extent of the injury.
The Bavarian giant will host Barcelona, which is high on big deals, on Tuesday in the second round of the group stage of the Champions League.
Koeman’s absence may be a blow to Bayern, who lost this season to the efforts of Polish sniper Robert Lewandowski following joining Barcelona during the summer transfer window.
The injury also increases the problems of the “roosters” team, with the absence of Juventus midfielder Paul Pogba, following he underwent knee surgery earlier this month.
Doubts are also swirling regarding the possibility of the absence of Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema following he was injured in a 3-0 win over Celtic in the start of the group stage of the Champions League this week.
France will play Austria in the European Nations League on September 22, before traveling to Denmark on the 25th of the same month.
