The first National Association of Street Workout has just been created in Marrakech with the election, Friday, at its helm, of the young Aymane Ait Brahim as president. Baptized “Young Marrakchi Street Athletes” (JAMS), this sports association will serve as an appropriate space for this confirmed athlete to contribute to the mobilization of young Marrakchis followers of this sport in order to promote it at the national level.
In a statement to MAP, Aymane Ait Brahim, stressed that this association aims to develop a healthy practice of street workout among young people in his hometown Marrakech, to identify young talents to help them emerge and of course, to make the name of the Ocher City shine during the various national and international competitions. This ambitious young athlete did not fail to express the wish to see similar associations emerge in the four corners of Morocco to be able to found a Royal Moroccan Federation dedicated to this emerging sport.
Aymane Ait Brahim, recent winner of the Temara Street Workout Cup and selected to represent Marrakech at the International Competition to be organized on September 24 by the city of Essaouira, indicated that the creation of a federation dedicated to this sport will allow to mobilize financial and logistical resources, able to promote sport and create spaces for the practice of this sporting discipline in the various cities of the Kingdom.
On another note, he deplored the fact that a few weeks ago, the precarious equipment on which young fans of this sport trained, went up in smoke due to a fire. Following this incident, the Wali of the Marrakech-Safi region, Mr. Karim Kassi-Lahlou, received a delegation of these young people. A project was launched to build a space intended for street sports, which have become a real social phenomenon arousing immense enthusiasm among young people, especially in working-class neighborhoods.
Having become acquainted with this sporting hobby 6 years ago, Ait Brahim explained that street workout is a sport combining gymnastics, bodybuilding and parkour and mixing figures of strength, flexibility, balance, and of agility.
Street workout is a recreational sport that is practiced mainly in open spaces (parks, etc.) but also in gyms, crossfit and bodybuilding.
Ait Brahim is aware that the promotion of this sport requires the creation of parks and spaces dedicated to street workout in the various cities of Morocco, equipped with the necessary equipment, in particular fixed bars, parallel bars, horizontal and vertical ladders. and inclined.
