A meeting with the presidents of the parties and movements of I approve Dignity future interior ministers held this Monday, Izkia Siches, of the Segegob, Camila Vallejo and of the Segpres, George Jackson, in the so-called “Small Coin”, the operations center of the President-elect, Gabriel Boric.
The meeting -which is usual every Monday and which had the telematic presence of some helmsmen- takes place three days following the frontrunner present the 24 ministers who will accompany him in the government starting March 11.
After the meeting in Condell, the deputy Tomás Hirsch (Humanist Action) explained that among the issues discussed was the definition of the place where the first meeting between Boric and his future ministerial team will take place next January 28: the Canaveral mansion located in Lo Barnechea.
The site has symbolism. In the 1970s, the property belonged to Miria Contreras, secretary to former President Salvador Allende, and the then head of state used to spend weekends there.
In addition, in 2018, following delivering the presidential sash to President Sebastián Piñera, the former president Michelle Bachelet He moved to the mansion in El Arrayán to hold a lunch with his former ministers and close collaborators.
Boric will lead the first meeting with his future cabinet on January 28
“We were coordinating a day of camaraderie that we are going to have this Friday (January 28), we are going to do it in the Casona Cañaveral”, said the deputy and explained that, in addition to attending the 24 ministers appointed by the President-elect, “Some of the undersecretaries will also be there and we will be the 7 presidents of parties and movements of Approve Dignity”.
The purpose of the meeting will be for the designated ministers to get to know each other, “but also review government program, the itinerary for the coming weeks and months, learn a little more regarding what the ministers’ tasks, what are the fundamental tasks that the President-elect will deliver to him”, detailed the parliamentarian.
Undersecretaries, presidential delegates and seremis
Meanwhile, during the morning Jackson referred to the deadlines for announcing the next undersecretaries. As detailed, from here to Wednesday -two days before the first meeting with the cabinet- They hope to release the names of the 39 people who will lead these positions., which might have a large presence of “independents”.
“We are working flat out so that hopefully by Wednesday we can have the information on who is going to complete the cabinet teams, to start deploying ourselves with all the specificity that this work requires,” explained the next head of Segpres, adding: “There is a lot to do, on Friday we already have a meeting with the future ministers and that is why this week it is super important that we have the first meetings with those who are going to be in the undersecretaries”.
What was announced by Jackson had also been addressed at Monday’s meeting with the presidents of the bloc’s parties.
As Hirsch explained, following the announcement of the undersecretaries, “in two to three weeks the names of the regional presidential delegates and, a week following that – we’re talking regarding 3 to 4 weeks– the name of the provincial presidential delegates”.
Then the designation of the ministerial regional secretariats would be a “much longer process”, detailed the deputy, since they are “297″ people.
As the selection process to complete the long list that Boric has to designate continues, the leader of Humanist Action also explained that with it the “submission of names and resumes that are being delivered by the parties and movements” to the team of the future government, which is reviewing them.
