The first inflation data for December: it was 30.4% according to Córdoba grocers

Inflation in December 2023 was 30.4%. The data is published by the Department of Statistics and Trends of the Córdoba Warehouse Center. The accumulated price increase throughout last year was 244.3%.

A family of four needed a monthly income of $556,025 to not be poor and to be able to buy the basics for a month. In the case of indigence, the line is drawn at $253,691.

The increase in prices was felt in the pocket and is reflected in the increase in the Basic Food Basket, which during the last month of the year was 37.1%.

In the data collection, we can say that within the significant increase in warehouse products, toilet paper almost reached a 300% increase and sunflower oil exceeded 221%. Dry noodles, one of the main foods, grew in value by 170% during the last twelve months.

In December 2023, 78.2% of Family Groups spent more than 50% of their total income on food alone.

88.2% of Households had to finance food (44.2% on credit; 39.6% with Credit Cards and/or with borrowed money 4.4%)

58% of Family Groups had to spend money saved to cover essential expenses for the December 2023 period.

27% of Families, during December 2023, sold some asset they owned, to meet essential expenses of their family group.
