The first in the Middle East… a government platform for mental health and addiction treatment “online”

Egypt launched the first governmental electronic platform for health and psychological services and treatment of addiction patients free of charge, which aims to provide all medical assistance, whether psychological or addiction treatment, to all age groups of Egyptians and non-Egyptians residing in Egypt.

This platform is the first of its kind in the Middle East, and includes many treatment services provided by doctors and specialists in mental health and addiction treatment.

The National Information Center at the Ministry of Health and Population, the General Secretariat for Mental Health and Addiction Treatment, in addition to the World Health Organization, and the University of British Columbia in Canada cooperated in creating and launching the platform.

The online platform for mental health and addiction treatment includes three main sections, both of which provide various services and various consultations that help advance and improve the health of all its subscribers.

The first section contains education and awareness of the most important scientific information that talks regarding common disorders in general psychiatry, and its specialized branches such as addiction treatment and psychiatry for adolescents and children.

As for the second section; It is the first step in providing psychological support and counseling through “telemedicine” through which virtual clinic doctors diagnose sick cases and provide all treatment assistance, through a few simple steps that enable users to assess their psychological state, as well as book a session with qualified psychotherapists.

The third section is concerned with the site’s administrators and administrators, where they can monitor and evaluate the performance of the platform, and it presents the most important reports of the portal’s statistics, such as the number of users.

A few days ago, the Ministry of Health and Population announced the launch of the first national electronic platform in Egypt for mental health services and addiction treatment free of charge, in the context of expanding the provision of mental health services and making them available to all.

Dr. Manen Abdel-Maqsoud, head of the General Secretariat for Mental Health and Addiction Treatment, explained that the platform aims to provide free government services for mental health and addiction treatment, for all age groups of Egyptians and non-Egyptians residing on the land of Egypt.

She noted that the platform is the first of its kind in the Eastern Mediterranean Region, and one of the fruits of cooperation between the General Secretariat for Mental Health and Addiction Treatment, the National Information Center at the Ministry of Health and Population, the World Health Organization, and the University of British Columbia in Canada. Psychologists and international experts in the field of psychiatry and addiction treatment.

She added that the use of electronic services in the field of mental health will greatly contribute to obtaining high-quality, confidential and confidential counseling and psychological support, overcoming the stigma related to mental disorders in society, correcting misconceptions and providing sound information for all.
