the first gas and electricity bonuses will fall this Friday!

Electricity and gas bonuses are eagerly awaited. Evidenced by the many calls received not only from suppliers, but also from FPS Economy. Some customers should already receive good news this Friday.

“As of tonight (read from Thursday to Friday, Editor’s note), Luminus pays this federal premium automatically with the deposits and accounts from its customers”, announces the supplier’s spokesperson. “The first customers will see it this Friday, November 18. Luminus takes care of everything. The customer does not have to do anything. Luminus tells us that the deduction will concern the November bonus. A second deduction will therefore be made for December.

Customers of Engie, supplier with the largest market share in Wallonia, deductions will also fall soon. “The reductions will be applied to invoices from next Monday, November 21,” indicates the press service, which specifies that the package will be deducted in one go. “We estimate that 20 to 25% of our customers will benefit from this in November. The rest will be in December. »

To proceed with the reduction, the suppliers were waiting for a return from the FPS Economy. “Around November 10, we sent the list of rights holders to suppliers,” confirms the spokesperson for the public service. “We mightn’t do it earlier because we carry out a matching for the social tariff every three months. We were therefore waiting for the last matching, the beneficiaries of the social tariff not being entitled to it. »

However, the majority of beneficiaries will probably have to wait until December to benefit from a reduction in their bill. A reduction that can take several forms. The only constraint that suppliers have is to apply the flat-rate reduction of 122 euros for electricity and 270 euros for gas before January 1, 2023.

These packages cover the months of November and December. They might therefore be deducted in one go (like the Engie announcement) or twice. Similarly, if you are with the same supplier for gas and electricity, you might benefit from a “bundled” reduction for both, ie 292 euros if applied at once.

Automatic… or not

The reduction is automatic. This does not mean that errors or omissions are not possible. For the heating bonus of 100 euros granted automatically last spring, for example, 257,000 complaints for non-receipt were returned to the FPS Economy. In 60% of cases, the request was legitimate and the premium was paid followingwards.

For the gas and electricity bonuses, it will be necessary, if necessary, to wait until January 23 to lodge a complaint with the FPS Economy. The practical details will be communicated at that time.

As a reminder, households who have a variable contract or a fixed contract concluded or renewed following September 30, 2021 can benefit from the electricity and/or gas bonus. Beneficiaries of the social tariff are excluded from the system, as are professionals and businesses. .

There was a lot of procrastination around the “pellet” check for 250 euros. The file going to the Council of Ministers this Friday, we now know a little more.

People who heat with pellets will have to wait at least until January 2023 to be able to submit their request. “The form will be online at the beginning of the year,” says Nicolas Gillard, spokesperson for the Minister of the Economy, Pierre-Yves Dermagne. The law establishing it must indeed be passed by the end of the year. The request may also be submitted by registered mail.

No photo requested

Only households using pellets as their only means of heating will be able to receive the check. Originally, it was planned to request a photo of the installation. Finally another system was chosen. “We will see if the people who apply for the check have not received an “oil” check or a gas bonus. This verification will take some time, and the payment of the check to your account will therefore not be done immediately.

The only proof that the applicants will then have to submit when submitting the request is proof of payment for the delivery of at least 500 kg of pellets, by blower truck or by pallet. Delivery must have been made between June 1, 2022 and March 31, 2023.

The payment of fuel oil and propane checks (bulk delivery) has already begun. The amount having been raised from 225 euros to 300 euros, some households have already received a first part and will receive the 75 euros therefollowing. Applications can be submitted until April 30, 2023.
