This Thursday the official award was scheduled to repair the most deteriorated section of Route 151, near Catriel. It involves the resurfacing of 41 kilometers between Medanito and the Puente Dique on 25 de Mayo, where the stretch of road in Río Negro ends. It is the historically most ruinous sector of the trace which begins at the roundregarding of the main entrance to Cipolletti and ends unexpectedly in the interior of La Pampa, near Santa Isabel.
The mayor-elect of Catriel, Daniela Salzotto, confirmed that the agreement was signed today and that the work will begin when the Nation makes the first disbursement. That work was an agreement reached by the elected governor Alberto Weretilneck before leaving the post of governor in 2019. On a visit to Catriel, he hand-delivered an agreement to the then mayor Carlos Johnston. The firm in charge of the work is Luciano, who also has other maintenance jobs on the track. The contract was signed by 7 billion pesos.
It was an arrangement to be able to improve that section of the road with the resources available to the Nation. It is that the objective was to repave the entire route in Río Negro. That is why in 2018, during the management of Maurcio Macri, the entire work was budgeted for regarding 700 million pesosalthough the project originated in 2012. However, less than 15% was executed and far from the Catriel area. The scourge of inflation and especially the soaring exchange rate in April of that year left the award truncated.
There they began a series of negotiations to be able to readjust with the current budget. In this scenario, an agreement was reached to repave this section, between the Medanito deposit (km 109) and the bridge that divides the provinces of Río Negro and La Pampa. The process took practically the entire management of Alberto Fernández. It is that the agreement “slept” in writing from the central house of National Highway and was activated months ago.
Last April, the National Highway Administration approved the project to rebuild 41 kilometers of National Route 151, at the northern end of Río Negro. It should be remembered that more than a decade ago, in 2012, the complete resurfacing of the section of Route 151 was tendered, from the roundregarding at the intersection with Route 22, in Cipolletti, to the Puente Dique area, on the border with The Pampa.
In November of last year, it was decided to proceed with a partial reconstruction, concentrating the works on the 41 kilometers of the northern end of Río Negro, Estimating at that time that the official budget for the works would be 123 million pesos.
