The first crossover MAZ-5440 2022-2023 is revealed in the photo shortly before the debut. His motors are already known

Today, not only Russian, but also Belarusian automakers are experiencing the need to modernize technical capacities. The latter also came under strong sanctions pressure, as a result of which sales volumes should fall. Moreover, it is possible that Belarusian enterprises will lose more money in the current circumstances, given that they are highly dependent on the Russian market.

One such company that can suffer large losses is MAZ. Minsk Automobile Plant is very dependent on sales in the Russian market. And given that in our country there is now a drop in demand for commercial and large-capacity vehicles, as well as activity KamAZwhich has recently launched several new models, the financial well-being of MAZ raises questions.

Under these conditions, the Minsk Automobile Plant should think regarding re-profiling its activities. This, in particular, is now being done by KamAZ, which took up the issue of launching the production of small electric cars back in the winter. But it will be easier for MAZ in this regard, given that the Belarusian company has been cooperating with JAC. Minsk Automobile Plant can in a short time develop and launch its own compact crossover, created on the basis of Chinese Model S3.

The domestic designer said that he had developed a series of renders revealing the potential appearance of such a model. He published several images of the future MAZ-5440 2022-2023 crossover, which can be created jointly with JAC. This model, like the Chinese prototype, is compact in size and equipped with low-power engines. Probably, the first MAZ crossover will receive a 111-horsepower 1.5-liter engine, which can optionally be replaced with a 1.6-liter naturally aspirated unit with a return of 120 hp.
