An official source at the Ministry of Manpower commented on what was published by the Kuwaiti newspaper, “Al-Qabas”, regarding a decision to stop issuing work permits for Egyptian workers in Kuwait since last September 17 until further notice.
The source told Masrawy that the Ministry of Manpower did not receive any papers, document or official letter from any Kuwaiti party at all, and such matters will not be discussed until following referring to the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The source confirmed that the Ministry of Manpower will communicate tomorrow with the Egyptian Foreign Ministry to find out the truth regarding this decision or not, saying: “Tomorrow, everything will unfold.”
And the Kuwaiti newspaper, “Al-Qabas”, said, this evening, Wednesday, that Kuwait issued a decision to stop linking the workforce with Egypt, followed by a procedure to stop work permits for Egyptians until further notice.
And the Kuwaiti newspaper stated: After the directives of the First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Talal Al-Khaled to stop the agreement to link the workforce with Egypt, responsible sources in the Manpower Authority indicated that this step was followed by a new decision by the Public Authority for Manpower to stop issuing work permits for workers coming from Egypt until Further notice.
The sources attributed the reasons for the decision to the need to work on setting up a new mechanism to control recruitment from Egypt, and “the Egyptian embassy’s violation of the Kuwaiti laws regulating the labor market,” and working to implement the laws and regulations regulating the labor market decisively.
