Director Khaled Youssef responded, in a video clip he posted on his official Facebook account, to the statement issued by musician Rageh Daoud, in which he attacked “Youssef” because of his use of music that was not his composition in the series “Serra Al-Batea”.
“Youssef” said: “Good evening. I want to say that the statement made by Mr. Rajeh Dawood did not bother me, because he has the right to alert the audience that there is music in the series that is not written by him, and he described that if someone understood that this music is attributed to him and it is not his, this is a crime. You do not describe what you did in the crime.”
And he continued: “Because this is my absolute right to put down the music that I feel is appropriate for the scene and appropriate to the mood of the scene from my point of view. Professor Rajeh Daoud, because his wide audience does not accuse me of having offended him, condemned me for the series’ graphic music following its materialism. And he condemned the music a few days before Ramadan.
And he added: “But there are many scenes that I did not find what suits her. I mean, the scene of Napoleon and the procession. I did not find music for her with a professor, Rajih, who treated her specifically for the scene, and when I spoke to him, he said that I will not be able to work in the 16-hour series. I want you in general and try to put the appropriate themes.
And he continued: “I studied the music, and I did not find a suitable thing. I brought the music of the old republican peace to France and put it on the entry of Napoleon, and there are many scenes that I met with appropriate music that he treated because the music is wonderful in all cases, and there are scenes, unfortunately, the existing music is not enough that I can put a theme on The state I want, whether it is grief, sadness, or something else.
And he continued: “I was forced to remove music from my old films, and I asked permission from their creators, and they gladly welcomed it. Rajeh Stadium, if you see that I used other than his music, and there was music suitable for the viewer, I might see a mistake, so he takes any scene on which I put a musical theme that is not his, and he sees what music he is.” Her work is appropriate and he puts it on this scene, and he publishes what I put and what he made for this scene and what he sees as appropriate, and you and I will see that I was wrong to put another music or not.
And he added: “I am very proud of him and I am proud of my experience with him, and I do not want him to be harassed. I was put in this situation and there was no solution for him other than this, and there are people who forget the history of Egyptian cinema. They did not make music until the fifties. The audience says why did you put the music? They used to say that the director succeeded in employing the music or failed.
He concluded his speech by saying: “The audience and critics have the right to say that the music that I put in the so-and-so scene confused the scene or offended or reduced it. I wish Professor Rajeh Maybakash Hariq that we were all surrounded by this circumstance, and he had two series, and it was a heavy task, and he condemned the music in the way I described it at the beginning of the video.
