The first beta of iOS 16.5 arrives and these are its news

We have not yet finished exploring everything that iOS 16.4 has brought us, and Apple is already thinking of continuing to advance its development. The company has launched the first beta of iOS 16.5 along with those for iPadOS 16.5, tvOS 16.5, watchOS 9.5, and macOS Ventura 13.4.

After the wave of news from the last version, it is noticeable that Apple only wants to polish some details of iOS 16 to focus more on the next iOS 17. But even so, we can start talking about some discreet news that the developers have discovered in iOS 16.5.

More commands for Siri and more content in Apple News

At the moment and in this first beta we can talk about two novelties. The first is the one that affects us the most: we can start a screen recording using Siri. Until now it’s something we had to do through the Control Center to go fast.

The other novelty is reserved for countries that have Apple News: now this service has a new sports section with news on that subject. You can filter those news by creating a feed personalized depending on the teams you follow: if you are a culéyou can see only articles related to FC Barcelona without problems.

At the moment those are all the news that there is in this regard, but it is likely that we will see more surprises with the rest of the beta versions that we are going to see in the coming weeks. Anyway let’s not wait too long, because at Apple the priority after iOS 16.4 becomes mostly to present a beta version of iOS 17 in conditions. And that will happen in early June.

How to update to the iOS 16.5 beta

Apple has changed the system with which you can access its betas. If you dare to try the first beta of iOS 16.5 you can do it from Settings, in the ‘General’ > ‘Software Update’ section and clicking on ‘Beta Updates’:

Can choose between developer channel updates or public beta channel, which is the one I recommend if you don’t want to deal with Apple developer accounts. Once you have chosen it, in that same section you will get the first beta of iOS 16.5 so that you can install it as if it were another update.
