In the past hours, the 20-year-old Miss England finalist Melissa Raouf has taken to social media following she became the first contestant to compete without make-up in the century-long history of the competition.
Raouf, a university student from south London, moved forward in the competition’s semi-finals on Monday, to compete in the finals in October for the crown.
I broke the rule
She indicated that this experience means a lot to her, explaining that most girls wear cosmetics because they have to, so she wanted to break the rule, according to what she told the British newspaper The Independent.
She also continued that if a person is happy with his skin, we should not force him to cover his face, saying: “Our flaws make us what we are, and this is what makes each individual unique.”
Another surprise
In addition, she pointed out that she had always used cosmetics at an early age, but she decided to avoid traditions in the competition, stressing that she had recently accepted that she was beautiful and therefore decided to compete without makeup.
It is noteworthy that Raouf had posted a selfie a few months ago on Instagram from the “Exposed Face” tour of the competition, stressing that she is not afraid of impurities or defects.
According to the organizers, Raouf plans to go without makeup once more in the national final in October.
